چکیده
In traditional medicine Thymus serpyllum L. (wild thyme) herb represents a part of large number herbal medicinal formulations such as syrups, tinctures, infusions, teas, and decoctions. recent years, there has been growing interest in testing the biological properties wild thyme, because plant is high-quality raw material, rich essential oil pharmacologically active polyphenolic compounds, which can be included various pharmaceutical, cosmetic, food, chemical industries. Wild thyme extracts have shown significant nitric oxide, ABTS DPPH radicals scavenging potential, ferrous ion chelating property, reducing activity ability to inhibit peroxidation deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), proteins lipids. exerted antibacterial against Bacillus cereus, Enterococcus faecalis, Listeria monocytogenes, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Salmonella enterica, Yersinia enterocolitica, well Lactic bacteria. potential E. Thymus serpyllum L. grown in Kumaon region of Western Himalaya was investigated for essential oil content and composition in different seasons. The oils of fresh samples were obtained by hydrodistillation. The yield of essential oil (% v/w) during different seasons varied from 0.07 to 0.28% with the highest in summer season, at vegetative stage. The oils were analyzed by GC and GC-MS. Major com...
